Investigating the effect of aloe vera gel in comparison with lanolin oil on the healing of cracked feet

A skin crack is a crack in the epidermis layer and a little bit of the second layer, which can be caused by various reasons. Cracked feet is one of the most common foot diseases. Cracks on the feet are generally caused by severe dryness of the skin, and with the thickening of the skin on the soles of the feet, the cracks become deeper and more severe over time. Cracked leg is considered a beauty problem for many people, on the other hand, the cracks gradually get deeper and more painful and start bleeding and even in very acute cases they get infected. In terms of appearance, the surface of the skin of the feet is normally dry, and in some areas, it has rough calluses that appear in yellow or dark brown colors in the discolored parts of the skin, which is especially evident on the edges of the heel. Skin cracks are usually easy to identify and observe. In this intervention study, which was conducted on 94 people with cracks in both feet, demographic information questionnaire, dry foot clinical evaluation scale, and visual analog scale were used. The samples of the first intervention group used aloe vera gel and the samples of the second intervention group used lanolin. The samples of the control group also used a placebo matched with the main drug. According to the findings of this study, which shows that aloe vera has a more favorable effect compared to lanolin in curing dry and cracked feet, and considering the effects of aloe vera plant, such as anti-inflammatory (salicylate), anticoagulant (thromboxan) and analgesic effects. (Inhibitor of Bradykinin) On the other hand, because of the cheapness and availability of this plant, it is suggested that this gel be used in the care and treatment of cracked feet by respected colleagues, nurses and midwives.
